Grants valued at $500 to USA and territories PreK-12 individual teachers to purchase books for their classroom. The goal of this program is to increase the accessibility of quality books to as many children as possible by bringing books into classroom libraries. These funds are provided to the individual teacher and not the school itself, and are to be used only for the purchase of books for the winning teacher’s classroom library. In addition, the winning teachers will receive Scholastic Book Clubs Bonus Points to be used toward books for their classrooms.

The sweepstakes will award $500 and 500 Bonus Points for teachers to build their classroom libraries.

Term of Contract:

Any prize not claimed by December 31, 2020, will be forfeited.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

2020 Scholastic Book Clubs and James Patterson Classroom Library Grant (the “Sweepstakes”) is open only to legal residents of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and US territories, ages 18 or older, who are currently teaching in a US school in any grade from PreK through 12 (“participants” or “entrants”). Do not participate in the sweepstakes if you are not a legal US resident 18 years of age or older.

Employees, officers, and directors of Scholastic Book Clubs, Inc. (“Sponsor”), its affiliated and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotional agencies, suppliers of promotional materials and services, and any other entity engaged in any way in the development, production, printing, distribution, or execution of the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to James Patterson, JBP Business, LLC, Hachette Book Group, Inc. and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, advertising and promotion agencies, manufacturers or distributors of Sweepstakes materials (collectively “Related Entities”), and members of the immediate family or household of such individuals are not eligible.

Pre-Application Information:

- The Sweepstakes Period will start 4/14/2020 at 9:00 a.m. ET and end 7/31/20 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
- Drawing will be conducted by Sponsor on or about August 2, 2020.
- Sponsor will announce all the winners on or about September 10, 2020, on the website. Sponsor will contact winners via direct email and via a mailed notification letter.

Teachers who request to have the award directly deposited into their Scholastic Book Clubs account will receive the funds within a week of responding to the notification email.

Teachers who request to have the award sent as a check via USPS will be required to complete a personal W-9 form and must allow up to two months of processing time.
