Award to a Mississippi individual for outstanding contributions to public school education. The award is intended to publicly recognize the dedication of a parent who has partnered with their local school to improve the school and promote student success. Nominations are encouraged for parents who have made a significant commitment to their local school through dedication to students, and the generous gifts of time and other resources.

The Parent of the Year (POY) candidate should be:

  • Actively involved in their child’s educational life through activities/projects
  • Focused on improving the school and student success
  • Member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and supports the association mission
  • Active member of the community
