Grants of up to $5,000 to Mississippi nurses and schools to enhance the health and welfare of local residents. Funding is intended to assist nurses with activities that promote the health and well-being of residents across the state. The goal of the grant is to support nurses (RN or higher degree), nursing schools, and other entities in their efforts to work with community programs or projects that contribute to the health and welfare of residents. Grant recipients are encouraged to participate in community-based projects that can impact a positive change in a current health issue.
Examples include but are not limited to or subject to the following:
• Evidence-Based Interventions to address HIV/AIDS early detection and prevention; obesity early detection and prevention; breast cancer early detection and screening; prenatal care; immunization knowledge; drug & alcohol addiction.
• Technical support and/or resources to support the expansion of Allied Health programs and schools of nursing programs that encourage practice in rural areas
• Technical support and/or resources to support Continuing Education opportunities for nurses, healthcare providers, and/or community partners in the areas of mental health & wellness; human trafficking; domestic violence; child abuse/neglect prevention; and other similar areas.
