Grants to Mississippi school districts to address the negative effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on school-based health services. Funding is intended to assist school nurses through a comprehensive health program that will include nursing care, health education to school personnel and students, and other services as deemed appropriate to combat the pandemic. Applicants must show that the school nurse will have a dedicated workspace with technology and storage, and demonstrate the ability to implement supplemental staff if needed.
The Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Healthy Schools, will provide opportunities to hire and enhance employment opportunities with school nurses through the public-school nurse program to the 156 MS public school districts in 887 sites to hire up to 106 new registered nurses.
